Charming cottage #chezsuzanne

#chezsuzanne is a charming, cosy family cottage opposite La Clé des Champs farm.

Suzanne… this name evokes precious childhood memories. Born in this house (in the 1930s), Suzanne had moved to the Nantes region, where her husband Lucien was originally from. They kept the house in the family fold, spending vacations and weekends here. They welcomed their children and grandchildren, who spent much of the summer here.

It was a real “village fete” when the Nantais arrived! Olivier, my husband, who was born here, remembers fun and games with his brother and sisters, as well as Lucien and Suzanne’s grandchildren, who were around the same age.

And while Olivier’s parents were busy on the farm, Suzanne was available for the farm kids who crossed the road to fetch a cake or watch TV (this is the 1980s).

 

Armed with these memories, we wanted to restore the human warmth and sense of hospitality that once reigned in this #chezsuzanne cottage.
But before Suzanne was born, it would seem that this charming stone building was a country bistro that served as a stopover for travelers in the 1800s.
This explains the large countertop that serves as a work surface in the fitted kitchen. A massive cold room door has been restored to its original position.
This cozy country house is the perfect place for a stay with family or friends.
You’ll be happy to share moments of relaxation at the counter or in the spacious living room.
We couldn’t resist putting back a big, long farm table, just as it was at Suzanne’s house.

The cottage can accommodate 1 to 9 people. It is composed of :

First floor

A large 90 m² living/dining room

A fully fitted and equipped kitchen

One room with 1 double bed (160*200).
This room is on the first floor and has its own private bathroom. It is suitable for people with reduced mobility.

A private shower room adjoining the ground-floor bedroom, accessible by PRM;

Upstairs:

One bedroom with 1 double bed (160*200). A sofa bed can be used as an extra bed (80*190).

A dormitory-style room with four single beds (adult size 90*200).
The layout can be combined to make 2 double beds (180*200).

A bathroom on the landing with walk-in shower

A sheltered terrace facing south and east to enjoy the morning sun.

A covered west-facing terrace for year-round use.
