Whatever your interests, don’t pass through our beautiful region of Pays de Roche aux Fées without visiting a few picturesque sites:
LE SITE MEGALITHIQUE DE LA ROCHE AUX FEES – ESSE (11 mn)
It’s a dolmen in the form of a covered walkway dating back to prehistoric times. At an impressive 19.5 m long, 6 m wide and 4 m high, this monument arouses admiration and imagination.
Legend has it that fairies built this edifice in one night to prove their existence, and that it guarantees the happiness of lovers who count the same number of stones.
L’ETANG DE LA FORGE – MARTIGNE-FERCHAUD (5 mn)
The lake’s shape and surface area are impressive: 109 hectares! You can walk around it in about three hours, or cycle for an hour. The scenery is very varied. I particularly like this site for jogging on Sunday mornings!
LE CHATEAU DE CHATEAUBRIANT – CHATEAUBRIANT (15 mn)
Both a medieval fortress and a Renaissance edifice, the Château de Chateaubriant tells the story of 10 centuries of history.
