What to do – What to see

Here are just a few of the places (among many others) that we particularly like to visit or do things at near our home.

THE UNMISSABLE: ETANG DE LA FORGE

MARTIGNE-FERCHAUD 5 MN

The lake’s shape and surface area are impressive: 109 hectares! You can walk around it in about three hours, or cycle for an hour. The scenery is very varied. I particularly like this site for jogging on Sunday mornings! The pond is very popular for fishing (you can buy your license at the local PMU). A great excuse for a stroll.

DELICIOUS HIKING TRAILS

MARTIGNE-FERCHAUD 5 MN

Walking, jogging or cycling: get some fresh air!

In Martigné-Ferchaud you’ll find 10 hiking trails, all signposted, maintained and open all year round. I particularly like the La Vallée de la Noë-Jollys trail: it’s practical because it passes by the farm and there’s no need to take a vehicle to reach it. I’m also a big fan of the Vallée de Guéra trail, which offers lovely panoramic views, where you’ll follow little ribins with their generous flora, and where little cottages will surprise you along the way.

THE REMARKABLE: THE MEGALITHIC SITE OF LA ROCHE AUX FÉES

ESSE 11 MN

It’s a dolmen in the form of a covered walkway dating back to prehistoric times. At an impressive 19.5 m long, 6 m wide and 4 m high, this monument arouses admiration and imagination.

Legend has it that fairies built this edifice in one night to prove their existence, and that it guarantees the happiness of lovers who count the same number of stones.

AN ENCHANTING PLACE: THE CHATEAU DES PERES

PIRE SUR SEICHE 20 MN

Not easy to describe. And yet… you have to go! The Château des Pères is a place of art, culture and gastronomy: nothing less!

The Domaine du Château des Pères, with its strong artistic approach, aims to enhance the value of manual labor through art, and to make it accessible to all. Take a stroll through the park and be amazed by the sculptures. It’s just crazy!

The super PLUS of the place: 2 on-site restaurants, one of which is open 7/7 for lunch and dinner!

THE INTRIGUING: ENIGMAPARC

JANZE (18 MN)

Do you enjoy rallies, puzzle hunts and role-playing in exotic, unusual or intriguing settings? Go to Enigmaparc! You’ll discover 12 universes, each more successful than the last: games, riddles, etc. Plan on spending a good half-day there. Young and old alike will love the game. I’m particularly fond of the “office of the solved” décor.

FUN: SWIN GOLF

RED (20 MN)

Derived from golf, swin golf is played like golf, but with a single club and a larger ball. Perfect for families and friends. A real moment of relaxation in a natural, green setting. Fun and relaxing. If you’ve never played before, don’t worry: an introduction is provided on arrival. The activity can keep you busy for a whole day! A real breath of fresh air!

INSPIRING: ROCAMBOLE GARDENS

CORPS-NUDS (25 MN)

Once upon a time, there was an eco-insolute garden based around a colorful, whimsical kitchen garden. A beautiful story staged in a large 6000m2 landscaped garden, open to visitors. Garden design ideas to take away, as well as lots of practical gardening advice. Lots of varied, harmonious atmospheres: bucolic, yé-yé, zen… You’ll love it. There’s something for all ages, including the little ones, with a large play area.

LE MAGIQUE MONT-SAINT-MICHEL (1h30)

You’re on vacation: you’re too close to Mont-Saint-Michel not to visit. There isn’t an excursion there where you don’t think “wow! Mont-Saint-Michel, the Wonder of the World, the fruit of human talent, faith and hard work, is as impressive as ever.

Visiting the Mont will be a feast for the eyes, but crossing the Bay or taking a walk around the Mont-Saint-Michel will be no less magical. Take a guide: he’ll be able to tell you all about the fauna, flora, history and geology. Among our guides, I’ve fallen head over heels for Romain Pilon, a freelance nature guide. He’ll tell you all about the bay with love and humor!
